While I'm up too late, I might as well . . .

post something. Tonight I made a dinner that I thought was pretty good. It consisted of beef kabobs with red and yellow bell peppers and red onions. I marinated the meat for a few hours earlier today. I also made some cauliflower and peas (yeah it's kinda weird) that I roasted and drizzled with olive oil, sea salt and a mixture of bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese. It was pretty good if you ask me. I had some left over hummus and tortillas and some jasmine rice. I know not enough veggies but lots of options.

Enter the whining. "Eew, I don't like this" blah blah blah, so then Mike says with a little too much satisfaction in his eye "Sometimes when I'm on TDY (means he's gone for a short period) I buy white bread"
Me- shocked look on my face.
Mike "sometimes I can't wait to open it and make a dough boy (when you squish it and then eat it squished)"
Me-trying not to laugh at this confession but looked shocked.
My boys looking between us both.
Jack pipes in "I like white bread, why don't you buy it?"
Mike "sometimes they give our kids white bread at school"
Me-shock and horror "noooooo"
David- "I want WHITE bread"
Me-"wheat bread is healthier, I just want you to be healthy"
Mike- "White bread is healthy too"
Me- "no it's not"
David "white bread! white bread!"
Jack- "yeah, mom buy us some white bread"
David- "white bread! white bread!"
Sam- quietly looking at the food he really doesn't want to eat and appears to almost have tears in his eyes.
Me- "I made white rice tonight which converts faster then sugar into sugar"
David- "white bread! white bread!"
Mike- "I miss white bread, I'm going shopping with Mommy next time"
Me- "Oh no you most certainly are not. All we'll have is twizzlers, white bread, bacon and pop tarts and that is not healthy"
David "White BREAD! WHITE BREAD!"
Mike- "Yeah I think I'll go shopping with you"
David- "white bread! white bread!"
Jack- smiling cause he thinks it's funny.
I actually thought it was funny too. Little do they know that last time I went to Costco I secretly bought a soda. SHHHH! I was really just wanting one but my healthy image will be shot if anyone says anything. I promise it won't happen again for a long long time. :)
