bags!

Many of you know that I love to get free things even if I have no purpose for them at the time.  I also love taking those free things and making them into something useful.  Our YMCA does a free give away a few times a year and they will have things like one napkin or one panel of curtains.  Often they are new items.  Well this not so little bag is made from some of those finds.  The white is two small curtain panels and the tan is a lonely little napkin that had no friends.
I added a pocket to the back of this big bag but left the inside pocket free.
Because I didn't want to go buy anything to make this bag I looked around in my stash of free things and found this unfinished napkin rings.  I did buy the straps a long time ago but didn't have enough of either the blue or the off white to make the straps so I came up with what you see.
I did buy this button about a month ago from the clearanced section for 25 cents and I think I even got 20% off that because it was memorial day weekend and they gave a discount to military members and family.  So basically free. :)
The rope we had laying around the house and I cut five strips to make one of those bracelets I used to make in middle school as my closure. This is a gift for a friend.  I know it's a bit impractical being white and all but I like it and hope she does too.
This bag was supposed to be part of my salvation army transformed treasure bit but I started it and couldn't decide how I wanted to work it into my piece.  So I ended up finishing it recently and just made it into a tote.  The Stripey stuff is another curtain.
It's a pretty good size tote.

Recovery

Mike had surgery and let me tell you that I will need recovery from his recovery. :)  I've decided that I should probably not be a nurse or anything like unto it.  Poor Mike.   Let's just sum the last 9 days with this

"ouch it hurts"
5 days in bed
water bottle refills
empty milk jug to fill then empty ew!
pain pills
moaning
call to doctor
"Don't make me laugh!" who knew I was so funny
sleep, sleep, sleep
Walkie Talkies
long over due shower
helping to shower
drying between toes
fluffing pillows
can't go
can't stop going
"I need you"
"You're hovering"
hobble hobble
"Yay Dad you did it!"
He's doing much better now, thank goodness.  We have learned that the boys are better at fluffing pillows and helping dad get dressed than mom.  I knew they'd come in useful.
